All Things Pinterest-ing about Indy

Pinterest is the hottest new social media site around, with tens of thousands of new Pin Boards being added daily. A Pin Board, for the uninitiated, is a bulletin board of favorite images, organized around subject or area of interest. You can create your own Pin Boards, Re-Pin the boards and images of those you like onto your boards, or just 'like' what you find. Pinterest is a visual moveable feast -- a great way to browse the internet, and keep track of what your network is pinning as well.

It should come as no surprise then to see all things Indianapolis well represented on Pinterest. Want to share pictures of Peyton Manning, revisit the Indianapolis 500 or gawk at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument?  You'll find all those popular Hoosier Hot Spots and much more -- including some of the cooler lesser-known corners of the Circle City. Have you ever seen the Beatles Nativity Scene in SoBro (South Broad Ripple) or kicked out the jams at Sausagefest? Check out what you've been missing at this board dedicated to "Hip Indy."

Indy Bands Vie for Rolling Stone Super Bowl Gig

So you wanna be a rock and roll star? Rolling Stone Magazine (along with corporate sponsor Volkswagen) is giving one lucky Hoosier band the opportunity to open for Jane's Addiction and The Roots at this year's Super Bowl in Indianapolis. Local bands like Tim Brickley and the Bleeding Hearts are activating their Facebook and Twitter fan bases to vote for the privilege of performing in front of the global audience. Vote early, vote often -- fans are being asked to vote once a day for their favorite group, with stiff competition fueled by a frenzy of social media activity the order of the day.

Hit City Recording Releases Flaming Planet Head

http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/thereacharounds
Just prior to the ball dropping for 2012, Bleeding Heart bassist and longtime-Indy pub rocker Scott Sanders and his band The Reacharounds release their first record, Flaming Planet Head on Hit City Recording.

Produced by Hit City chief (and lead Bleeding Heart) Tim Brickley, and supported by a who's who of Indianapolis' working musicians including Larry DeMyer, Scott Ballantine, Keith Carey and Ben Wah Salami, the tightly-crafted album features a roster of original compositions written by Sanders over the past several decades.

TexMex flavored (a vestige of his time spent in Austin, Texas, just after college) and full of sad songs of lost lovers and crazy country neighbors, Flaming Planet Head is reminiscent of Joe Ely, Steve Earle, and Dave Alvin.
